| Question: Hi Is Buddha a real person or a god statue? Thanks Answer: The statues and other representations of Shakyamuni Buddha are "3D pictures" of the person who once taught in India about 2520 years ago. He was not God, nor do Buddhists worship him in that fashion. |

| Question: My guestion is this:
I have read two different books on Tibetan Buddhism. Both have the same basic things, the refuge and the immeasurables, but one says that buddhism is not a religion while the other says that buddhism is a growing popular religion. I know these are people_s different views but how do you know what is thus?
thank you, kyla. Answer: It is not so much a matter of peoples views as it is a question of how you define religion. For some, to be a religion, there must be a deity or deity involved. From this defination, Buddhism is not a religion. Another defination says that something that shapes peoples attitudes and behavior is the ways Buddhism does is, indeed, a religion. ..with palms together... |
